Glasgow Chamber of Commerce is searching for the city’s favourite businesses to be honoured at the 24th annual Glasgow Business Awards, sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland.
Now open for entries, Glasgow’s Favourite Business, sponsored by Glasgow Times, is the only Glasgow Business Award voted for by the public. Before the voting commences, nominations need to be gathered to create a shortlist of six with the winner revealed at the awards ceremony in October.
This year’s winner will join the hall of fame alongside music and arts venue SWG3 and Glasgow’s Favourite Business 2021 winner, specialist whisky and spirits merchant, The Good Spirits Co.
Reflecting on last year’s win, Matthew McFadyen, co-founder and owner of The Good Spirits Co, said: “When we first opened, we saw there was a gap in the market for somewhere in Glasgow that was a bit more specialised and really wanted to make the kind of shop that we would like to shop in.
“We’ve grown to operate three shops and are proud to be embedded in the local community. It was a great surprise to be nominated last year and an even better one to win the title, which has helped build more recognition for our business.”
Richard Muir, deputy chief executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, added: “It’s true when they say that ‘People Make Glasgow’ and we have such an eclectic and vibrant business community, homegrown in our city, and the Glasgow Business Awards seeks to recognise them.
“In previous years our shortlist has included retailers, venues and cafes as well as travel and technology companies. Glasgow’s Favourite Business is an impressive accolade for any organisation, and so we urge people to show support for their local businesses.”
