AN ICONIC Glasgow pub has reopened with the occasion being marked by Still Game's beloved Boaby the Barman.
Actor Gavin Mitchell, who runs the Clansman in the popular series, celebrated the opening of Blackfriars pub in the Merchant City by cutting the ribbon and even taking his turn to pour some pints.
Gavin said: “I’m delighted to see the legendary Blackfriars being saved and reopening.
"A few more choices of beer here than ‘The Clansman’, and more than just pies on the menu.
"Superb to see they are offering comedians plenty of gig opportunities and events, bringing back a buzz to Merchant City.”

Blackfriars first burst onto the Glasgow pub scene in 1991, and after the pandemic forced the doors to close in 2020 they never re-opened.
At the helm of the new venture is the team behind the Duke's Umbrella and steak restaurant Gost.
Now fully refurbished and with a new, 'refreshed' pub menu, Blackfriars is set to have a jam-packed calendar from comedy events and pub quizzes to club nights.
Group Development Chef John Molloy said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming people through the doors to enjoy some stand-out pub grub including Scottish scampi and our “Eye of the Tiger” burger which, trust me, has got real chilli heat.
"Made with Blackfriars own ‘Eye of the Tiger’ hot sauce, this burger packs an eye-watering 1 million Scoville rating and is not for the faint of heart.”

As well as the new burger, other dishes on the menu include buffalo hot sauce wings, classic hotdogs and fries, classic fish and chips, and a selection of traditional ales and craft beers.
Andy McCartney, Owner of Blackfriars, said: “We’re excited to finally unveil Blackfriars to regulars and new customers alike.
"We wanted to give this Glasgow pub staple a facelift and refresh the menu; creating something that’s familiar but still exciting.”
