TWO robbers helped get themselves caught after their contact details were on a getaway vehicle.

Bernard Larkin, 24, and Miley Doran, 26, held up two Asian teenagers in the street after brandishing a machete last September 8.

They had pulled over in a Range Rover in Giffnock and started talking with the pair aged 19 and 15.

Prosecutor Leanne McQuillan said in what was deemed to be a "subtly racist" comment, they asked: "Does your dad own a corner shop?"

The teenagers tried to walk off, but one of the thugs demanded "f***ing money".

Miss McQuillan: "A third male exited the vehicle and brandished a rusty machete.

"One of the boys took a £20 from his rucksack and threw it onto the ground near the male, who picked it up and returned to the vehicle.

"Before the drove away, one of those in the vehicle was heard to say: 'This is what we do for a job, taking money off Asians'."

Police were soon alerted to what happened. CCTV managed to trace the Range Rover and that Larkin was the owner.

Both he and Doran were identified as being involved.

They pleaded guilty today at the High Court in Glasgow to assault and robbery.

Doran's lawyer Tony Lenehan said: "He seeks neither to mitigate or justify the decision to rob two people.

"It was a works vehicle with ladders and contact details on the side, so identification was rather inevitable."

Larkin was jailed for two years and nine months with Doran locked up for three years.

Lady Stacey told them: "What you did cannot be tolerated. Two young men were going about their business.

"You decided to stop your vehicle and, acting with someone else, robbed them."
