This weekend saw the welcome return of the World Pipe Band Championships for the first time since 2019.
Over 40,000 spectators made their way to Glasgow Green on Friday and Saturday to watch 146 bands from across the globe compete for the top prize.
This year’s winners were the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band from Northern Ireland who put on an impressive show as the sun shone brightly over the Green.
Runners-up were Inverary and District Pipe Band while Scottish Power were awarded third place.
Glasgow’s Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren, who was Chieftain of this year’s championships, said: “I’m proud to have served as Chieftain and would like to thank the bands and spectators from all over the world who came to Glasgow.
“It has been wonderful to have the Worlds back at Glasgow Green and the carnival atmosphere that it brings with it.”
Glasgow first hosted the World Pipe Band Championships in 1948 and has continued to do so every year since 1986.

The past two years have seen the event cancelled due to covid 19 restrictions making for a celebratory atmosphere as bands from as far away as Australia, Canada and Argentina gathered to perform over the weekend.
Kevin Reilly, Chairman of The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, said: “Nothing compares to the Worlds, both in terms of atmosphere and the high standard of performance.
“This is the pinnacle of pipe band competition which musicians work tirelessly towards for months, and it shows.
“Once again, this weekend has produced some truly memorable performances.
“We have had to wait three years, but the Worlds are back with a bang, and Field Marshal Montgomery are deserving winners.”
