A YOUNG Celtic fan announced he is cancer free today - with a little help from his hero. 

At only 14, earlier this year Ryan Thomson was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The active boy, who plays football for his community team at Stenhousemuir and had taken up boxing, running and climbing, had to undergo four rounds of chemotherapy since his diagnosis in February.

But after such a challenging time, Ryan is finally cancer free, and he got someone very special to reveal the good news.

In a video posted to Instagram, where Ryan's uncle documented his journey through treatment, Celtic player Jota is pictured making the announcement next to a smiling Ryan.

The Hoops winger can be heard saying: "Congratulations to Ryan! 

"He is cancer free and now he has an amazing life ahead of him."

The post read: "What better way to announce that you are cancer free!

"Massive thanks to His hero Jota!

"And a massive thank you to everyone who helped him on his journey!

"More stuff to follow, but I’m away to have a few drinks!

"Much love from The Thomson family 💚🍀"

Ryan's symptoms first started showing on the pitch.

Alongside an itchy skin, Audrey noticed he tired quickly.

Ryan was often in competition with his identical twin Kyle, even when it came to who was gaining weight faster. 

The growing difference in weight between the two was what prompted a visit to the doctor. 

Meanwhile, Ryan also developed a lump on his neck, after which urgent tests revealed the diagnosis, after which the boy was admitted to hospital.

During his time in the ward, Ryan received support from the sporting world, from fellow community team players to his favourite footballers.

A GoFundMe page was set up earlier this year, to help support the family and help Ryan fulfil his dream of having his own man cave.
