A WOMAN who made an officer fear for his health after chewing on his arm avoided jail today.
Catherine London, 34, assaulted PC Kevin O’Neill at her home in Thornliebank on January 6, 2022.
The city’s Sheriff Court heard officers attended London’s property and heard “shouting and music.”
Officers approached London to speak to her but found her to be heavily intoxicated.
Prosecutor Amy Hunter said: “She began shouting and was asked to desist.
“She bit PC O’Neill on two occasions to the right hand which broke through the skin and left arm.”
London was then arrested.
Miss Hunter added: “The officer was required to have blood samples for six months.
“This put stress on his personal and family life waiting on the outcome.”
It was later found that PC O’Neill did not contract a disease.
London pleaded guilty to assaulting the constable to his injury.
Garvey McCardle, defending, told the court: “She realises this incident could have had difficult consequences for him.”
Sheriff Brian Cameron put London under supervision for two years at today's sentencing.
