NORTH Lanarkshire Council has confirmed that all schools and early years facilities will close for the Queen's funeral.
The announcement was made on Monday afternoon that "as a mark of respect", all schools and early learning establishments will be closed on Monday, September 19.
Following the announcement that the day of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday 19 Sept 2022 is to be a bank holiday, all schools and early learning establishments will be closed as a mark of respect.

It comes after Glasgow City Council made the same move to close schools on the day of the funeral, which is also an official public holiday.

Some shops and businesses have also made the decision not to open their doors to the public on September 19, with Primark and John Lewis shutting all day.
