An annual golfing event in Bishopbriggs saw £4000 raised for charity this week.

Nine teams gathered at the Cawder Golf Club to take on an 18-hole course in support of Quarriers, one of Scotland's leading health and social care organisations.

Taking the trophy home at the end of the day was a group from Barclays Bank leaving captain Alistair Stewart 'delighted' with the result.

After the competition, golfers were invited to a dinner where they heard from Niall MacPherson of the Quarriers Executive team to learn more about the charity's work.

Money raised at the event will go towards 'providing practical care and support for thousands of vulnerable children, adults and families who face extremely challenging circumstances'.

Louise Robertson, Head of Income Generation at Quarriers, said: “It was fantastic to welcome the teams back to our annual Golf Day.

"Like many organisations, we have missed the opportunity to host events over the last few years and be able to see our wonderful supporters.

"It was fantastic to be at the Championship Course at Cawder Golf Club. We thank them for their hospitality and everyone for their very generous support in raising £4,000 from the event.

"This will make a really positive impact on the people we support across the organisation and we are very grateful to everyone involved.”
