A NEW fund could see Glasgow community groups receive up to £10,000.
The Go Cycle Glasgow Fund aims to encourage people to cycle more for recreation, sport and active travel.
It has been launched by Glasgow Life ahead of the UCI Cycling World Championships, which will kick off in the city in August 2023, to support and inspire a love of the sport regardless of ability or background.
The launch was celebrated on Sunday at the city's Drumchapel Cycle Hub with a free family cycling challenge, which saw people including cycle hub members, friends and family try to reach a new personal best.
Billy Garrett, Director of Sports and Events at Glasgow Life, said: “The Go Cycle Glasgow Fund is an exciting new initiative and part of Glasgow’s commitment to deliver an enhanced programme of cycling-related activity for local communities.”
“We are looking forward to working with organisations that wish to incorporate cycling into their programmes and encourage more local people to cycle in and around our wonderful city.”
Awards will range from £1,000 to £10,000 and will support a wide range of projects, including equipment, storage, training and safety equipment, as well as some running costs.
