The daughter of a Celtic legend has given concerned fans an update on his health after he received an operation.

Mhairi Fulton, the daughter of former Hoops midfielder Murdo MacLeod, took to social media amid rumours that her father was unwell.

The 63-year-old was previously admitted to hospital in 2010 for heart surgery.

She revealed that the 63-year-old had undergone a heart valve replacement, a routine procedure in the years after heart surgery. 

She added that the surgery went well and he is now in recovery.

 

Fans were quick to show their support, with one commenting: "Delighted to hear that Mhairi. Was really shocked by those rumours & desperately hoping it was the nonsense it turned out to be. Please pass on my very best wishes to your Dad." 

Another said: "Fantastic news wishing him a speedy recovery."

Glasgow-born MacLeod spent nine years with Celtic in the 1970s and 1980s and earned himself legend status by helping the club win five league titles, one League Cup and a Scottish Cup.

He also enjoyed a three-year spell at German club Borussia Dortmund. 

MacLeod then went on to manage Dumbarton and Partick Thistle
