Two drivers have been taken to hospital following a road crash near Glasgow this morning.
At around 9.30am, two cars collided on East Kilbride road prompting an emergency services response.
The male driver of one car was taken to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment while the female driver of the second car was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
The road remains closed to Northbound traffic at Cairmuir Road as police carry out their enquiries and recovery for the vehicles is arranged.
There has been no further information given regarding either driver's condition at this time.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash involving two cars on East Kilbride Road, around 9.30am on Friday, September 23 2022.
“Emergency services attended and the male driver of one of the vehicles was taken to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment. The female driver of the other vehicle was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
“Enquiries are ongoing and recovery is being arranged.
“The road is currently closed for Northbound traffic at Cairnmuir Road."
