Social media went wild this afternoon following the announcement that Glasgow had reached the final two cities in the running to host next year's Eurovision Song Contest.
Now only facing competition from Liverpool in the race to win, it's an exciting time for local fans of the glamorous event as they await further updates.

One Twitter user made a passionate plea to organisers saying: “Come on Eurovision, give it to Glasgow.
“We’ve hosted the European Championships, the Commonwealth Games and countless music festivals.
“Us Scots will do you proud.”

Another referenced the famous line in the ABBA hit Super Trouper saying: “When ABBA, kings and queens of Eurovision, sang ‘When I called you last night from Glasgow’, do you think they were just vibing? It's the prophecy.”

Finally, one enthusiastic fan suggested a celebratory dance should the city be chosen saying: “So if it’s Glasgow, who is joining a mega conga around the city?"

Local Ru Paul's Drag star Lawrence Chaney was also amongst the first to show his support for the Glasgow bid tweeting: “I would LOVE to see Glasgow host Eurovision!

Glasgow-based politicians were quick to chime in with Green MSP Ross Greer saying: "Yes! Glasgow is the PERFECT Eurovision host city" and Labour MSP Pam Duncan-Glancy adding: "Yass. C’mon Eurovision, you know you wanna come to Glasgow."

Thankfully, we won't have long to wait to find out if Glasgow has been successful with the BBC confirming that a decision would be made "within weeks".
