A THUG who pried his lover's phone from her grasp and called her a name was jailed today for nine months.
William Reston, 38, turned on Catherine Craig - now deceased - in Cambuslang on May 2, 2022.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard the pair were together for two years prior to the incident.
The pair argued in the late morning before Reston shouted in Miss Craig's face.
He said: "I pay for f***ing everything, you are an ugly c***, you are an ugly cow."
Reston also called Craig a "jakey."
The argument continued as Miss Craig phoned her friend who was able to hear Reston shout and swear.
Prosecutor Emma Baker added: "She also heard him struggling with her, trying to get her phone.
"Reston managed to get her phone and hung up."
A 999 call was made and Reston was arrested at the property.
Miss Craig was reported as being "distressed and upset."
Reston pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards Miss Craig.
Susan Gibson, defending, told the court that the argument arose after Reston hid Miss Craig's tablets.
She added: "Unfortunately the victim is now deceased and the Crown will not be seeking a non-harassment order."
Sheriff Matthew Jackson KC told Reston, who appeared from custody, that it was serious matter due to his previous convictions which include domestic offending.
The sheriff added: "You are someone with enormous difficulties being in a relationship with someone.
"I don't see this stopping until you see why you are behaving in this way.
"This was a deeply unpleasant way to behave."
