A Ukrainian entrepreneur has launched a project to help war refugees build a career in Glasgow.
Katerina Hayes, who has been living in the city for 14 years, started a social enterprise which will train and support refugees to establish themselves in the beauty industry.
The 12-week educational programme will provide participants with qualifications and employment to work as hair professionals.
It will also culminate in a three-day colour education trip to Milan for the students.

The Knightswood resident said: “It has been such a frightening, emotional time for the women that arrive in this country from Ukraine, and they are at their most vulnerable, living in a different country, often separated from their families and feeling completely isolated.
“Our project will help these women take charge of their own destiny by learning the skills they need to become hair professionals, or even salon owners, in the future, and to build a secure and happy life for themselves and their families.”
The initiative is running in partnership with hair & beauty supplier and educator HDS Hair, which recently opened a retail store in Glasgow’s West End.

Kieran Cannon, its co-founder, said: “When Katerina first approached us with her idea, we were absolutely blown away and didn’t have to think twice about getting involved - this enterprise is so important for so many reasons and we’re delighted to be part of it.
"For us, the hair industry is all about community and connection and we are here to use our skills and our resources as a force for good.
"Our whole team will be involved in playing our part to support this project and help these amazing women build a happy career, and life, here in Scotland.”
