TENNIS legend Billie Jean King has shared her excitement to visit Glasgow for the cup finals.

The 78-year-old former world No. 1 will be in the city next month for the Billie Jean King Cup, and revealed that she cannot wait to come back after having the "greatest time".

She visited Scotland in 2017 to promote Battle of the Sexes, a film loosely based on the 1973 match between King and retired men's champion, Bobby Riggs.

She said: "I always wanted to come back to Scotland, and now I get to."

King, who won 39 major titles, added that she knew Judy Murray "pretty well" and thinks she deserves a statue for "all the tennis she's brought to Scotland" with the success of her sons Andy and Jamie.

She also plans to look into her family roots, admitting that much of her family is from Glasgow.

The Billie Jean Cup will see 12 countries compete in four robin-round groups of three nations, with the four group winners qualifying for the semi-finals.

It takes place at the Emirates Arena from November 8 to 13.

As well as putting Glasgow on the world stage, the competition aims to highlight tennis as the most established mixed-gender sport and encourage more women and girls to take part.
