Staff at two care homes have been recognised for their hard work and dedication at an awards ceremony.
The Oaks in Bailleston and Mearns House in Newton Mearns took home prizes from the 2022 Meallmore Staff Awards.
Presented by Glasgow singer Michelle McManus, the ceremony at Dunblane Hydro saw 180 staff members from 26 Meallmore care homes gather to celebrate their admirable work.
The Oaks won the Specialist Service Home Award and Manager of the Year Award.
Manager Julie Stevenson said: “To win the Specialist Home Award at the 2022 staff awards is an amazing acknowledgement for the staff.
"To take this award back to those who work at The Oaks and all do a fantastic job 365 days a year is amazing.
"We won this award last year too, so it’s very special to have the recognition once again. We are absolutely thrilled!"
Speaking on her personal win, she added: “I feel totally overwhelmed. Everyone works so hard but to be nominated by your staff and residents just means the world. It’s pretty phenomenal.”
Meanwhile, Lauren Cuthbertson from Mearns House was awarded for her exceptional performance over the past year in the Senior Carer/Practitioner Award.
She said: "I feel ecstatic to have won this award for my home. It means a lot to know that I am doing the right thing for my residents.
"Meallmore is a really tight-knit family to me and is so supportive. It really is a fantastic place to work.”
Nominations can be put forward by residents, residents’ families, visiting professionals and staff, with any member of staff across the care homes eligible.
This year saw more than 1000 submissions, more than double those received for 2021’s awards.
Gerry Hennessey, managing director of Meallmore, said: “Recognising the hard work of our staff is extremely important to everyone at Meallmore.
"These awards are all about celebrating the incredible people at our care company who have made a real difference to the lives of our residents across the country.
"It gives me great pride to see members of the team showcasing such commitment, and the winners are thoroughly well-deserved.
“I would like to thank our staff from all 26 of our care homes who go above and beyond every single day to provide the highest standards of care for our residents.
"The work they do doesn’t go unnoticed and I’m glad we can acknowledge them in this way. A big thank you also goes to Michelle McManus who once again has shown support for the work that we do.”
Winners were presented with a certificate, a trophy and their choice of prizes, including an Apple Watch, an iPad Mini, a Samsung Galaxy Watch, a Nintendo Switch, or Beats Headphones or Beats buds.
Runners-up received a trophy, certificate and a £50 Amazon voucher.
Michelle spoke of her delight to be part of the event and showcase the staff's achievements.
She said: "Congratulations to all the finalists and winners of the Meallmore Staff Awards 2022!
"I am so pleased I was able to get involved again – as always, these awards for Meallmore staff are so important and it’s great to celebrate all the individuals who show such exceptional dedication to so many people across Scotland.
"Thank you to the team at Meallmore for inviting me back to be part of this year’s ceremony.”
