A high school pitch has been unveiled after being upgraded.

Renewal works have been undertaken to the synthetic pitch at Mearns Castle High School in Newton Mearns by East Renfrewshire Council.

Works included improving the playing surface, lighting and fencing at the facility, and is part of the council's annual investment fund to maintain the area's parks, facilities and public spaces.

Housing and Environment Convener, Councillor Danny Devlin said: “The past 18 months has seen unprecedented investment in our parks, facilities and public spaces and I am delighted to see yet another completed project here at Mearns Castle.

"I’m sure everyone who takes to the field will be delighted with the results.

"We’re committed to providing high-quality facilities for residents and visitors to East Renfrewshire and the works that have taken place across 2021 and 2022 are a testament to that.”

Mearns Castle High's headteacher Stuart Clark said that it was "fantastic" to see the pitch upgraded to a high standard.

He added: "Our pupils are already benefiting from the improved pitch, which will support the school in delivering high-quality sport and physical activity sessions.”
