A man is fighting for his life in a Glasgow hospital after being in a crash with two vans on the M8.
The 26-year-old pedestrian was involved in a collision with a grey Renault Trafic SL28 van and a Volkswagen Crafter van on the westbound road at Harthill yesterday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene just after 4pm and he was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Police closed the road for around five hours to investigate the incident.
A 33-year-old man was arrested in connection and later released.
Officers are continuing to probe the incident and are urging any witnesses to come forward.
Sergeant Scott Sutherland, of Motherwell’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may be able to help to get in touch.
“We would be especially keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the incident.
“Anyone with information or footage can contact officers on 101, quoting incident number 2210 of October 17, 2022.
“I’d also like to thank the motorists who were affected by the road closure for their patience while we carried out our investigation.”
