Tributes have poured in following the death of Rangers legend Jimmy Millar.

As the Glasgow Times reported earlier, the club announced the death of the Ibrox legend today. He was 87-years-old.

People have been paying tribute to the late footballer, who touched many lives.

Comedian and well-known Rangers fan Andy Cameron said: "Jimmy Millar, who epitomised what being a Ranger meant has passed away.

"Lions in Africa used to tell their young that they had the heart of Jimmy Millar!

"My daughter Ellen told him: 'Mr Millar see when I was six, I wanted to be you.'

"Old Warhorse, rest easy."

Dunfermline Athletic, where the football legend started his senior career, said: "Everyone at Dunfermline Athletic FC was saddened to hear about the passing of former Pars player Jimmy Millar.

"Jimmy was signed by Dunfermline from Edinburgh juveniles, Merchiston Thistle in 1952 for £10 plus a £30 signing-on fee, 18-year-old apprentice plumber Jimmy Millar made a scoring debut at inside-forward in a 2-1 win over Hamilton on 31st January 1953. 

"His 17 goals in 19 league matches brought him to the attention of other clubs and in January 1955 he was transferred to Rangers for a fee of £5500.

"Twelve years at Ibrox followed with three league titles, five Scottish Cups and three league cups during his spell at Rangers.

"Our condolences are with Jimmy`s family."

Glasgow Rangers pub Oswald's Bar said: "All at Oswald's are saddened to hear of the passing of Rangers legend Jimmy Millar.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends."
