A popular social media star has called for Wimpy to reopen in Glasgow after visiting one of the chain's last remaining restaurants.
Darren Dowling, known as Dazza, had a bite to eat in the Fraserburgh branch recently - it is one of only three Wimpys left in the country alongside Kilmarnock and Dingwall - hailing the visit a "joyous return to his childhood".

He told The Daily Record: "I was up in Fraserburgh filming some stuff and on our off time, we realised purely by chance that Fraserburgh has one of the only Wimpys still left in Scotland. We already had lunch planned somewhere else, but as soon as I knew it was there - I stopped what I was doing and made the journey.
"When we got there, everything came flooding back. The smells, the decor, the bolted-down seats - it was all the same from when I was a kid, it was wild.
"It was honestly like walking back in time. All the seats are the same, the pictures look the same and the place even felt like it had been wallpapered and they've not changed it since it opened."
He added: "Lots of people were shocked that there are still Wimpys in Scotland. I reckon Wimpy needs to open one in Glasgow. I think they would make a killing and let's be honest. I'd be the first person in the queue."
Darren, who appeared on Come Dine With Me, ordered a cheeseburger with bacon.
He said: "It wasn't the best burger I've ever had, but honestly - they could have served me a slice of lettuce and I would have still loved the experience.
"I didn't even need the toilet, but I made a visit anyway and they've even somehow managed to capture the smells of a 2002 toilet. It's bonkers. It sounds like I'm ripping into the place, but I promise you I'm not, it was a joyous occasion. It was a bit on the expensive side, but they've only got three of them in Scotland, so I get it. But you can't put a price on nostalgia."

Wimpy opened in the 1960s and had restaurants on the city's Union Street, Ingram Street and Sauchiehall Street. At its height, there were around 500 restaurants across the UK during the 1970s.
