Concert-goers are said to be raking in money with a new scheme at Glasgow's Hydro.
To reduce plastic cup use, the city venue has implemented a recycling system where guests purchase reusable cups for drinks and can return them at the end of the show where they will earn £1 per cup.
In a video which has gone viral on TikTok, the move has prompted savvy punters to gather any strewn cups left at the end of an event to make money.

One gig attendee told the Scottish Sun that they had made £40 by handing back their recyclable cups.
They said: “I had no idea what was going on. Normally there’s a mad rush of everyone wanting away.
“But this time loads of folk were looking for the cups so they could make a bit of extra money.
“I got about £40 and used it to get a drink and a takeaway after the show. I don’t know if it will save the planet but it definitely put a smile on my face.”

Another added: “It’s a serious business. There were massive queues.
“Some folk were boasting that their night out was more or less free because of the cups.”
While the venue’s website says there is a maximum of six cup returns per person, videos on TikTok appear to show queues of people carrying huge towers of cups and cashing in.
One gig-goer said: “The staff weren’t bothered about how many cups you had.
“With me, they just put them through in separate transactions so I could have handed back as many as I wanted.”

A spokesman for the Scottish Event Campus, which runs the venue, said: “The OVO Hydro eliminated single-use plastic cups at live events by introducing Stack Cups in March 2022.
“We’ve been delighted with the response to the project from gig-goers.
“Stack Cups are a key part of our sustainability strategy, and it’s great to see our visitors’ enthusiasm for the scheme.
“Stack Cups will save us 2 million single-use plastic cups per year and reduce our carbon footprint by 1,500 tonnes over the next ten years.”
