Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr has revealed that he has huge regrets over failing to follow his mum's advice when she urged him to invest in Greggs decades ago.
Speaking on the Working Class to World Class podcast, the 63-year-old revealed that his mother worked at a Glasgow branch of the bakers during the 1980s and, spotting a tasty opportunity, offered her son some shrewd financial advice.

He explained: "My mum was the greatest.
"When we were young she worked part time jobs.
"She was a machinist and then she worked in, no wonder my teeth have fallen out, she worked in one of the first Greggs that opened in Glasgow.
“She said to me ‘you should buy shares in this place’, I said, ‘are you kidding me on?’.
“God what a mistake that was.”

The Sun reports that initial share prices for Greggs in 1984 were just £1.35 but have now climbed to an impressive £20.90 each meaning that even a small investment could have been a very lucrative move for the singer.
It's safe to assume he won't be forgetting about that business blunder anytime soon.
