A mysterious Southside knitter is back and Glaswegians couldn't be happier. 

The 'local legend', who has created several themed knitted toppers for a Merrylee postbox, has debuted their latest design in honour of Remembrance Day on Sunday, November 13.

The display features a soldier's head with their hat on, and poppies on their uniform.

The knitter has previously created knitted toppers for Christmas, Easter and the Ukrainian war, but, the latest honorary design has the community more abuzz than ever before.

John Brown, 71, from Merrylee, said: "The community is always backing the person who does these knittings.

"This one seems to be a bit extra special; it seems to have reached the heart of a few people. 

"The community appreciate it, it cheers them up and gives them something to talk about. This one is fantastic."

Tammy Giudici, 20, from Merrylee, said: "Every time there is a season or an upcoming event, the knitter always changes it.

"This one's really nice, it's nice to have it in the community.

"This is a good reminder of what happened and the history behind it."

William Hastie, 57, also from Merrylee, added: "The Santa topper was the first one I saw, and I thought it was fantastic, but this one is amazing.

"I don't know who it is but what they do is amazing."

Donald May, 75, from Merrylee, said: "This one is very good, it's been the best one yet I would say. 

"I'm sure it's lifting spirits."

James McLean, an ex-soldier from the area, said: "This is brilliant, just absolutely brilliant."
