The popular competition to name this year's gritters has started.
Amey, the company responsible for maintaining the motorway and trunk road network in South-West Scotland, is now accepting submissions.
The iconic wintertime initiative has seen over 3000 punny names being submitted since its launch.
Some classics include Sir Grits Hoy, Yes Sir, Ice Can Boogie, Skid Vicious and Sweet Child O’ Brine.

This year's suggestions will be accepted until Monday, January 16, 2023. They can be submitted online here.

- Sir David Attenbrrrrrr (Sir David Attenborough)
- Snowey Tribbiani (from TV’s Friends)
