Over 10,000 people watched the Christmas light switch-on live at George Square.
The lucky ballot winners gathered in the city centre to watch Glasgow's Lord Provost Jaqueline McLaren push the button on the festive lights, after performances in the afternoon, including a set by Callum Beattie.
As the lights on the Christmas tree, lampposts and wires went on, fireworks erupted, painting the sky yellow, red and green.
Audiences watched in awe as Christmas music blasted from speakers.
Here are eight spectacular pictures from the event.
