The Glasgowist Paul Trainer is your guide to the city's food scene. This week he talks about new restaurant El Santo opening.
Chef Dean Banks will open his first restaurant in Glasgow next year, I can reveal.
The MasterChef: The Professionals finalist has a portfolio that already includes Haar in St Andrews and Dean Banks at The Pompadour in Edinburgh's Waldorf Astoria, The Caledonian Hotel.
Now he has set his sights on joining the food scene in the West End with a neighbourhood seafood restaurant in Finnieston.

Dean told me: "We have been looking for a site for two years in Glasgow so it's super exciting to have found the perfect spot that fits my vision. The Glasgow food scene is electric at the moment so to be part of it is going to be something special. We hope to open our doors in Spring 2023."
The restaurant will be a Glasgow version of Dulse in Edinburgh's West End.
The menu will be seafood led with a wine list that pays homage to the best of Europe.
There will be cocktails made with Dean's own Lunun gin, distilled with five botanicals that reflect and compliment his approach to flavours: Kaffir lime leaf, Sichaun pepper, kombu seaweed, ginger and lemongrass.
Expect dishes like St Andrews lobster thermidor, baked north sea cod, crab red Thai curry and Singapore style mussels.
