A popular Glasgow bar has wowed fans of the TV show Friends with a special sandwich on its festive menu.
Max’s Bar and Grill in the city centre launched its well-priced festive menu last week with a surprise for Ross Geller fans – a ‘Moist Maker’ sandwich.
The legendary piece is the star of the season five episode titled “The One With Ross’ Sandwich”, where we discover that Monica Geller makes the best Thanksgiving dinner leftover sandwich.
The secret to the sandwich is the ‘Moist Maker’ itself: a slice of gravy-soaked bread in the middle.
We went to Max’s to test out the Moist Maker, a massive layered sandwich with pulled turkey, stuffing, bacon, and lots of gravy made with sourdough bread.
The middle gravy-soaked bread layer melts into the rest of the sandwich and the overall texture is moist as the name suggests, without getting soggy.
The ‘Moist Maker’ is a main course on the new Max’s festive menu and is served with your choice of skinny fries, yam fries, or hand-cut chips for £10.
Customers can order induvial dishes from the festive menu or enjoy two courses for £13 or all three courses for £16.
The giant portion was incredibly filling and comforting, with perfectly cooked turkey and the ideal level of saltiness from the bacon and gravy.
Dario Bernardi, the owner of Max’s Bar and Grill, told the Glasgow Times that the sandwich has been a hit since the festive menu was released on December 5 and hopes to add it to the main menu due to its success.
Devoted Friends fans and head chefs Amy and Dawn have wanted to put the ‘Moist Maker’ on the menu for over two years.
Dario said: “The Ross Geller sandwich on the menu is something that Amy and Dawn, our head chefs here at Max’s Bar, have been dreaming about putting on the menu for the last couple of years.
“And really their inspiration comes from their love of Friends and their love of Ross, and that led to them always wanting to find the right time and the right point to add this sandwich to the menu.
“And we were delighted to add it to our festive menu for 2022.
“It’s been a great success, it’s been the most popular main dish on the festive menu so far and it's only been running for a week.”
“The sandwich is double layered, with three bits of sourdough bread with pulled turkey, stuffing, bacon, and lots of gravy. It’s a really tasty, crunchy, double-decker sandwich.”

The festive menu has another new addition to the venue, desserts.
Dario said: “They’re something we haven’t really done before, and they’ve been really popular.
“My favourite is the white chocolate and miso cheesecake balls. They are just a nice little bite-size sweet dessert that is really tasty.”
