Youngsters at a Glasgow hospital received a special festive visit from star Rangers players and new team manager Michael Beale last night.
While the entire Rangers team were not able to attend due to ongoing covid restrictions, Alfredo Morelos, Antonio Colak and John Lundstram brought plenty of Christmas cheer to the Royal Hospital for Children as they chatted with families, signed autographs and delivered presents.
Rangers manager Michael Beale said: “The team visit to the hospital is always a highlight and although the whole squad couldn’t all come along this year, it was great today to spend time with the kids, their parents and some of the staff.
“We really enjoyed handing out the goodie bags and hearing about what they are hoping to get from Santa.”
As well as presenting children with goodie bags, the team handed over a donation of £10,000 on behalf of the Rangers Charity Foundation which will be used to decorate wards and purchase a ‘Safe Space’ bed for children with complex needs.
Youth Academy players, foundation and club staff and volunteers previously helped to hang decorations in the hospital to help get patients and visitors into the festive spirit.
Kirsten Watson, CEO of the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity said: “Many of our young patients will spend Christmas in hospital, which is why we are so grateful to the club and the Rangers Charity Foundation for their continued support.
“It was absolutely wonderful to see the reactions from the children and families when the players walked into their rooms.”
