'Santa' brought two families a very special gift this year as they welcomed new arrivals at a Glasgow hospital.
Two babies were born at the Queen Elizabeth University hospital in the early hours of this morning with both sets of parents saying they were surprised but 'delighted' to have had a Christmas Day birth.
Robyn Lawson waited until just past midnight to enter the world with mum Nicola, from Newton Mearns, giving birth at 12.29am meaning that the tot could potentially be the first Christmas baby in Scotland this year.
While dad Calum was at the hospital with Nicola today, the family says there is one person in particular who can't wait to be introduced to baby Robyn.
Nicola explained: “She has a big sister, Megan, who is coming up to meet her today.
“We’ve been telling her that Santa is going to bring her a little sister for ages and this is her finally arriving.”
Robyn was due to be born on December 27 but instead arrived two days early weighing 3.48kg.
Nicola continued: “It was a bit unexpected for her to be born on Christmas day but it’s quite nice and special.
“We gave the family a video call last night and they were just delighted.
“She’s a wee darling.”
Another youngster was made a big sister today thanks to the arrival of Sunny Carter who was born at the same hospital at 4.28am weighing 4.04 KG.
It’s been a long night for parents Hannah and Scott, from Busby, but this morning they too were eager to introduce their firstborn to a new sibling.
Scott said: “Sunny has a big sister Maisie who will be buzzing to see her.
"The baby was due to be born on the 28th so she's a bit early.
“It’s special to have a child at any time of the year but it feels extra special to know that it was on Christmas Day.
“We’ll be looking forward to our beds later tonight.”
Elsewhere in Glasgow, Chloe McKee gave birth to 8lb 11oz son Rio at 3.16am in the Princess Royal Maternity Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Emma Dolan’s daughter Bailey was born in the same ward at around 5.10am, weighing in at 5lb 13oz.
The first Christmas baby born in Scotland’s capital city arrived at 2.44am.
Selena was born at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to Nadejda Bulgaru and Stefan Dobroviceanu.
