Lord Provosts have lined up to share praise for their former advisor who has been recognised by King Charles III in his New Year Honours List.
Catriona Innes, from East Kilbride, will be awarded the Royal Victorian Order (MVO) for "extraordinary, important or personal services to the Sovereign or to the Royal Family.
Catriona is being honoured for her 32-year career of public service working with Glasgow City Council's Lord Provost and International Office.
The honour is bestowed directly at the discretion of the monarch and not on the advice of the Prime Minister.
Former Lord Provosts' Bob Winter, Sadie Docherty, and Eva Bolander led a series of nominations for Catriona.
Catriona began her career as an assistant advisor in the office of the Lord Provost in 1990.
She was promoted to the role of adviser to the Lord Provost and clerk to the Lord Lieutenancy where she was responsible for supervising the city's royal, civic, and international engagements.
Catriona retired in May 2022.
Catriona said: “News of the honour came as a total surprise.
"It’s been my professional privilege to meet the Royal family during their visits to Glasgow.
"I shall particularly cherish my memories of the late Queen Elizabeth II during her tours of the city.”
Bob Winter said: “I have no hesitation in supporting this nomination.
"Catriona was of immense support to me during my period of office, particularly assisting my role as Lord Lieutenant (May 2007 - May 2012) through her meticulous planning and organisation of numerous Royal visits by the late Queen Elizabeth II and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh, as well as other senior members of the Royal family.
"I will be forever grateful for her knowledge, experience, diplomacy and discretion.”
Sadie Docherty was also very supportive of the nomination.
She said: “I am delighted to support this nomination.
"In my role as Lord Provost and Lord Lieutenant (2012-2017) I was extremely grateful to Catriona, as Clerk to the Lord Lieutenancy, for advising me and guiding me through the many duties I fulfilled in that capacity including hosting the hugely successful Commonwealth Games 2014 attended by Royalty, Prime Ministers, Ambassadors, Diplomats and elite athletes from across the Commonwealth.”
Councillor Eva Bolander added: "It’s my pleasure to recommend Catriona Innes for this honour.
"I am grateful for her help and support during my term of office as Lord Provost and Lord Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow.
"Her knowledge and guidance went beyond what I could have hoped for or expected.”
