A hunt has been launched for a van driver who deliberately hit a teen and fled the scene.

The 19-year-old man was walking along Altyre Street in the city's Shettleston at around 11.55pm on Monday night when he was struck by a small white Transit van.

It occurred near the junction with Tollcross Road.

He was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary to be treated for injuries and has since been discharged.

Officers are currently investigating this incident and are trying to establish the motive as well as track down the driver.

They know that two women helped the victim after he was hit and they are keen to speak to them.

One wore a pink tracksuit while another was dressed in a beige tracksuit.

Detective Constable Claire Cunningham from Shettleston CID said: “Thankfully, the man was not seriously injured.

"At this point, enquiries are ongoing to establish why this happened but from our enquiries, we know that the van purposely struck the man before driving off towards Tollcross Road.

“We are keen to hear from two women, one dressed in a beige tracksuit and the other in a pink tracksuit, who went to the aid of the man and who we believe may have information that will assist our enquiries.”
