New Year's resolutions have been a long-standing tradition in Glasgow and beyond.

When the new year approaches, people across the globe make resolutions to self-improve, get fitter or eat better.

Now, with 2023 upon us, we took to the streets of Glasgow to find out the public's resolutions for this year.

Glasgow Times:

Kenneth Lamb, 76, from Maryhill, said: "I don't really do resolutions much, but this year, my resolution is to try and get out a lot more."

Glasgow Times:

Douglas Gordon, 69, originally from Glasgow city centre, said: "I never usually do New Year's resolutions, I never make them.

"That way, I never need to worry about breaking them."

Glasgow Times:

Noreen Duffy, 63, from Summerston, added: "I usually always try and set them, but by the end of January it's already downhill.

"This year, though, I want to hand in my resignation and retire, and I want to take a visit to see my parents at the cemetery.

"It's not too far, only in Lambhill, but it's just quite hard to get around as no cars can access the way I need to go. But I would like to get round to taking a visit this year."

Glasgow Times:

Mr and Mrs Bourke, from Ireland, have very different goals for the new year.

Mrs Bourke said: "I haven't really thought about making any yet.

"But, if I was to think of one for this year, it will probably be to get fit."

Mr Bourke added: "Mines is to drink more Guinness and beer."

"I just want to get fitter and lose a few pounds."

While June McIntosh, 42, from Royston, added: "I don't really bother with New Year's resolutions anymore.

"I used to, but I think of it as an age thing.

"Now that I'm older, I don't really bother anymore."
