A Glasgow doctor has issued a warning to people who are suffering from a cough.

Dr Punam Krishan, GP, said "everyone is coughing" as she gave advice on how to limit the illnesses spreading.

On Twitter, she explained: "Full day on call and literally only saw coughs. Everyone is coughing. All sat in the waiting room, coughing.

"Some accepted face masks but most did not. It’s worrying!

"All the respiratory viruses circulating just now are highly transmissible and affect people of all ages.

"Please look after yourself and those more vulnerable. It’s not about going backwards but looking ahead to limit the spread. Handwashing, face coverings and stay home if poorly."

This comes after we reported yesterday that Jason Leitch said people should consider sporting masks again and staying off work if they have any cold symptoms.

The National Clinical Director added: "And we shouldn’t pass on diseases to others.

"This is a new culture for Scotland.

"It means not going to your office. Not going to drive that bus.

“If you have a virus, if you’re not well, you should stay at home and not pass that virus on to others.”
