THE opening date for a new state-of-the-art sports and leisure centre has today been revealed.
As part of a £42.5 million investment by East Dunbartonshire Council, the Allander Leisure Centre in Bearsden is set to be moved from its current location to a new facility which is scheduled to open on Monday, March 6.
The original site will close to the public on Sunday, January 15 to allow for essential utility works, the transfer of equipment and logistical preparations.
The 'unavoidable' closure of the Allander Leisure Centre means that the public will be unable to access sports and leisure facilities until the new complex opens.

The new centre will boast a huge range of facilities including an eight-lane swimming pool, sauna and steam room, gym and two squash courts.
The site will also be home to a new support hub created for adults with learning disabilities which will replace the Kelvinbank Resource Centre in Kirkintilloch.
The overall project, which includes the construction of a new 'sports dome', offering two football pitches and a tennis court, is expected to be completed by autumn this year.

Jim Neill, chair of the East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust, said: "It's bittersweet as we bid farewell to the current Allander, but we're all looking forward to welcoming our first customers to the new centre.
"Unfortunately, it was not possible to simply close one facility and open the other due to essential utility works, the transfer of equipment and logistical preparations.
"We apologise for any inconvenience, but hope everyone can bear with us as we ready the new, state-of-the-art premises for its first patrons."
