A MAN has been charged after more than £160,000 worth of drugs were found in a car. 

As part of efforts to tackle serious and organised crime, officers stopped a Mercedes C Class at around 9.45pm on Thursday, January 12 on Sword Street in Gallowgate. 

A search of the vehicle was carried out and cannabis and cocaine with a street value of £168,000 was discovered.

A man, aged 40, was arrested and charged in connection with drug offences. 

He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sherriff Court today.  

Detective Chief Inspector Gordon McRae, Serious and Organised Crime, said: "This was a significant recovery by officers which has stopped large amounts of illicit drugs reaching the most vulnerable people in our communities.

"Police Scotland is committed to disrupting the illicit supply of drugs in our communities and we will use every tool and tactic at our disposal to remove these illegal substances from our streets.
