A KILLER who sent photos of his victim to others after he had stabbed him to death received a life sentence today.

Andrew Palfreman, 28, repeatedly knifed Barry MacLachlan having been heard shouting: "Don't under estimate me."

A blood-soaked and badly wounded Mr MacLachlan, 33, ended up stricken in the close of where the attack occurred in Glasgow's Lambhill.

It was there Palfreman sent what his own lawyer described as "despicable" pictures and messages of the victim to a number of people including two men.

Palfreman later claimed he had been defending himself and was affected by someone in his head called "Mr Darkside".

But, jurors found him guilty of murder following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

There were audible gasps from Mr Palfreman's family in the public gallery as Lord Summers ordered him to do a minimum 12-year punishment period behind bars.

The judge said: "It appears there had been a dispute about a dog but I am unable to conclude there was an element of provocation.

"The victim's top was taken off and folded in the kitchen - it is unclear.

"Whatever led to the death was a matter of the most trivial sort.

"The wounds you inflicted was the work of a violent man and I think what happened after the death is concerning - you gloated over it.

"You must have realised after three hours the enormity of what you did and took steps to phone the emergency services."

The killing occurred sometime between July 2 and 3 last year in a flat at the block in Knapdale Street, Lambhill.

After being stabbed, Mr MacLachlan - known as Big Baz - was heard stating: "I am dying here."

Despite what happened, Palfreman did not get help for Mr MacLachlan.

In his closing speech to jurors, the thug's lawyer Iain Paterson said: "I acknowledge that he did not call 999 immediately.

"He sent some despicable messages to people on his iPad - I accept that."

These messages included smiling emojis and Mr MacLachlan being called a "dafty."

Police later arrived at the flat and Palfreman told them he had gone to bed and "woke up hoping it would all be away".

The killer added: "I am not going to lie - I must have stabbed him about seven times. I was at breaking point."

Palfreman also said there had apparently been a row about a dog, which the court heard was called Yogi.

Among his other claims, he further alleged: "I have a man in my head called Mr Darkside, who I try not to let out."

Prosecutors also stated Palfreman had thrown the knife from a window to try and get rid of it.

It was revealed that Palfreman has a previous conviction for violence.

Mr Paterson told the sentencing that the attack on Mr MacLachlan was not planned.

The lawyer added: "He says he is very remorseful and finds it very difficult to cope with what he had done."
