Following a cash boost from a Regeneration Capital Grant Fund, Friends of the Pipe Factory who purchased the building in March 2021, are "delighted" with the upcoming transformation.

Glasgow Times:

Friends of the Pipe Factory, which refer to themselves as a community interest project, is a culmination of three companies; Articulate Cultural Trust, Inch Architecture + Design, and Strange Field, which was formed in 2020.

Over the years, the company have worked with older members of the community to investigate the rich heritage of the textiles industry in the East End, as well as creating the Barras100 arts and heritage programme.

The group have stated that they believe the tranformation will allow them to carry out more of the same projects in the community.

Stephen Sheriff, Director of Friends of The Pipe Factory, said: "This is a really huge endeavour and we're feeling really excited about it.

"To get to this point is great and we can't wait to work with the community, local councils and government.

"Our project has been to return the building to the community as a facility for creative activity and community wellbeing.

"Thanks to this award from the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund, the project is no longer a pipe dream!

"Friends of The Pipe Factory would like to thank all our supporters and partners who have helped the project get to this point, in particular Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council, NESTA, our private social investors, our members, Community Enterprise, the Margaret McIver Company and the people of the Barras and Calton.”

Glasgow Times:
