A supermarket giant has been given the go-ahead to open a new store in a prime city centre location.
We previously reported that an application had been lodged with Glasgow City Council to display signs on an A-listed building for a Tesco Express.
The Union Street unit is part of the historic Ca'D'Oro building and was previously occupied by Co-op, another supermarket which closed in September.
A letter submitted to the council said: “Tesco Stores Ltd are proposing to occupy the unit at 132 Union Street for a Tesco Express store. The site is currently in operation as a Co-Op convenience shop.”
Now the application is listed as being granted, subject to conditions on the Glasgow City Council's online planning.
It comes after we reported that an M&S Food store is opening soon at Glasgow Queen Street train station.
