A busy Glasgow road is set to face severe disruption for several weeks due to essential works. 

The overbridge on Junction 2 of the M77 on Barrhead Road, is set to undergo major parapet upgrades to improve pedestrian and vehicle safety.

The work will be carried out using 24-hour single lane closures on the eastbound and westbound carriages of Barrhead Road.

Full closures of the B762 can be expected, in order to install and remove the traffic management.

Works will begin on Monday, March 20 and will be in place until Friday, April 7. 

Work will commence during on-peak hours, from 8am until 5pm.

Road users are advised to allow extra time to complete any journeys during this period. 

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
