A FORMER care home is going under the hammer in Glasgow.
Built in 1986, Abbeyfield House in Airdrie was used as supported living accommodation, with communal living areas and kitchen facilities, but has lain empty for the past few years.
Now the property is being sold for auction by Auction House Scotland for a guide price of at least £250,000.
The detached building has 11 bedrooms, 10 of which have en-suite shower rooms, plus a separate two-bedroom housekeeper’s quarters.
The ground floor features an entrance hall, a reception area, a communal lounge, a conservatory, a kitchen, a utility room, two bathrooms, and eight bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms.
Two enclosed stairs provide access to the upper floor, which provides three more bedrooms and the housekeeper’s quarters with a lounge, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms.
There is a large monoblock area to the rear of the property for parking.
Mandi Cooper, managing director for AHS, said: “Abbeyfield House is in a great location within the residential area of Drumgelloch, just one mile east of Airdrie town centre, with a nearby railway station connecting the area to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
“The property could offer a potential buyer multiple potential end uses, whether reinstated as a care facility or developed into something different, such as new housing, subject to the relevant planning permissions.”
The property is going under the hammer at AHS’s in-room auction at 2pm on March 23 at the Radisson RED hotel in Glasgow, with a live stream also allowing bidders to watch and bid online.
