UPDATE: Scottish Water issued an update at 7pm that repairs had been completed.
A busy Glasgow road has been forced to close due to a burst water pipe.
Crookston Road is currently shut at the northbound carriageway between Brockburn Road and Cairnhill Circus.
The incident will affect water supply in the G43 area until the repair is fixed.
A Traffcom bulletin reads: "Due to an emergency water burst, the northbound carriageway of Crookston Road between Brockburn Road and Cairnhill Circus will be closed from immediate effect.
"Scottish Water are currently in attendance, however, it is currently unknown how long the repairs will take.
"An update will be issued once more information becomes available.
"Delays are to be expected especially at peak periods and drivers are advised to use alternative routes where possible."
Diversions are in place via Brockburn Road, Linthaugh Road, Corkerhill Road, Mosspark Drive, Paisley Road West.
Scottish Water confirmed that they were carrying out repairs.

A spokesperson said: "We are currently repairing a burst water pipe which is causing the interruption to the water supply for customers in the Prospecthill Circus area of G42 Glasgow.
"While we carry out the repair please be aware that you may experience no water supply, low/intermittent pressure or discoloured water.
"While carrying out the repair, we have identified damage to a further section of adjacent pipe, which is now being repaired.
"The water supply will gradually return to normal for customers once the repair has been completed."
The firm later issued an update that they are repairing a 15-inch main near The Gables pub.
The repair is aimed to be fixed by 9pm tonight, and in the mean time they are using water from a nearby supply.
A contraflow system has also been set up.
They said: "We have an experienced team on the ground who have now isolated the flow of water exiting the main and are now carrying out the necessary repairs.
"Whilst repairs are carried out, we’ve introduced water to the network from a neighbouring supply and this has brought all customers back into supply albeit at a lower pressure.
"For any customers affected, this will be noticeable until all repairs are complete.
"Excavation work is being carried out to expose and repair the damaged 15” water pipe and we aim to have the repair completed by 9pm this evening.
"Whilst carrying out work we have identified the need for a secondary repair on a 9” main in close proximity. This will be assessed for repair and planned in the coming days. The secondary repair required is not impacting any customer's supplies.
"To allow our team to carry out this work as quickly and safely as possible, we have a contraflow system set up on Crookston Road. After a thorough assessment, we have managed to avoid a partial road closure meaning customers will not be required to follow any diversion routes, which we hope will come as some good news for road users.
"We have a number of key customers within this part of the network and our customer support team have reached out to these customers to ensure they have the right support during this time.
"We'd like to apologise to all customers affected by this outage and would like to reassure customers we are working as quickly as possible to complete all work."
