A busy Glasgow motorway is set to be severely disrupted. 

The M8 between Junctions 15 and 22 will see a package of improvement works stringing from Monday, February 20 until Friday, April 14. 

Improvements will take place overnight on both the eastbound and westbound carriageway, and will include drainage investigations, wall panel refurbishments and resurfacing. 

Phase one of works will commence on Monday, February 20 until Friday, March 10 and will see the closure of Junction 18, Charing Cross to Junction 16 at the turn for Dobbie’s Loan.

The on-slip road at Charing Cross and Anderston will also be closed, with traffic being diverted to alternative routes. 

Phase Two of eastbound works will take place from Sunday, March 12 until Sunday, March 26 and will see the closure of Junction 22 (M74) through to Junction 16, Dobbie’s Loan. 

The closure will be in place every night of the week between 10pm and 6am, and will see the closure of the M77 northbound ramp that joins the M8 eastbound.

Phase Three of eastbound works will take place from Monday, March 27 until Friday,  April 14 during the hours of 10pm and 6am.

This will see the closure of Junction 18, Charing Cross to Junction 16, Dobbie’s Loan, and both the Anderston on-slip and Charing Cross on-slip roads will remain closed. 

From Sunday, February 26 until Thursday, March 9, the M8 westbound at Junction 15 will be closed from Sunday through to Thursday during the hours of 10pm and 6am.

During this period, the M8 westbound Junction 17 on-slip road from Phoenix Road will be closed.

The M8 westbound Junction 16 off-slip road will also be closed.

Bridge deck expansion joint replacements will also be undertaken from Monday, February 27 until Thursday, March 16 on the St Georges Road and Great Western Road overbridges.

Great Western Road between West Graham Street and St Georges Place will close, as will Junction 17 eastbound off-slip.

These closures will be in effect between the hours of 8pm and 6am, each night. 

A southbound closure and northbound offside lane closure of Great Western Road between St Georges Place and West Graham Street will be in place from Wednesday, March 8 till Thursday, March 16. 

Road users are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works. 

All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
