A teenager raped a drunk underage girl in a park.

Mason Jasper, 20, preyed on the 15-year-old on public ground in Glasgow's Springburn on May 25 2020.

Co-accused Kyle McCaughan, 20, also attempted to rape the girl who tried to move away from him.

The girl later returned home soaking wet with a cut to her lip and twigs in her hair.

Jasper was convicted of raping the girl at the High Court in Glasgow.

McCaughan was found guilty by the jury of attempted rape.

Judge Andrew Cubie said: "Each of you were charged with a serious offence....each of you will be remanded in custody."

Brazen Jasper blurted out: "Blah blah blah, f*** sake man calm down."

As he was being led into the cells he shouted: "Here we f***ing go, f*** the system."

Calls of: "I love you son" were heard from the public gallery.

The court earlier heard that the trio were with others on the day of the incidents.

The trial was told that the girl had to be held up by both men at one stage due to her state of intoxication.

Jurors also heard that the girl also fell over a kerb.

Jasper and McCaughan were left alone with the girl where both men pounced on her.

Jasper claimed in his evidence that he had consensual sex with the girl.

The girl earlier told police that she had "no recollection" of sex with Jasper.

Prosecutor David Dickson told jurors in his closing speech: "I suggest she is telling you the truth when she said she was so drunk she could not consent to sexual intercourse."

The girl told officers that she could remember McCaughan having sex with her.

She stated that she tried to move away but could not as he was holding her hips.

Jasper's DNA was found on the girl.

McCaughey's DNA was also found on Jasper.

The court was told that the girl's parents were concerned for her as she had been out for three to four hours.

Mr Dickson: "When she came home, her brother's first words to her were ‘tell me who battered you’.

"Her clothes were soaking wet, she had a cut lip, there was blood on her face, she was ‘out of it’, she was not making much sense, she was drunk.

"Her mother gave similar evidence. She said she had twigs in her hair."

The court was heard that both men committed crimes after the offence date.

Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month.
