A Line of Duty star has branded Nicola Sturgeon as "the most capable politician in the UK of the last decade."
Martin Compston took to twitter today to share his thoughts on the First Minister's resignation.

He wrote: "By far the most capable politician in the UK of the last decade.
"Ran rings round umpteen opposition leaders and prime ministers, Nicola Sturgeon leaves independence movement in a far stronger position than when she took over and deserved to go out on her terms.
"Be sorely missed."

Those that left comments seemed to agree with the 38-year-old, with one user writing: "Agree 100% Martin."

The First Minister stepped down today after eight years, which she announced at a press conference this morning.
Sturgeon has said she will remain an MSP “until, certainly, the next election."
