A DRIVER is to stand trial charged with killing a woman walking in the street.
Ian Stalker allegedly hit Connie McAvoy, 46, in Barrhead Road near Silverburn on December 14 2020.
It is claimed the 35-year-old drove at excessive speed, did repeatedly undertake other motors before losing control of his own car.
Stalker then allegedly mounted a "footpath", hit a bus stop pole and then ploughed into Connie, who was walking there at the time.
He is also said to have smacked into a fence and tree.
The indictment states Connie was so severely injured that she passed away.
Lawyers for Stalker on Wednesday pleaded not guilty on his behalf to the charge of causing death by dangerous driving during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.
Lord Matthews fixed a trial due to begin in November this year.
Stalker, of the city's Pollok, remains on bail meantime.
