A Scottish town is set to face a series of major upgrade works to its water supply.
Scottish Water has today announced that they are investing £1.5million to improve the resilience of the water supply in and around Dolphinton in South Lanarkshire.
The works come after a series of repeated bursts in the area which has caused interruptions for local customers.
Work will begin on Monday, March 13 and is set to last around 32 weeks.
The works will take place along the A702 at Hillside Gardens where around two miles of 4-inch water mains will be upgraded.
Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs manager in the west, said: "There is a history of low pressure and bursts in the area.
"When completed, the project will greatly improve the resilience of the supply ensuring customers continue to enjoy clear, fresh drinking water while reducing the chance of pipes bursting.
"We would like to thank residents, road users and customers for their patience and understanding."
Traffic management will be required and has been agreed upon in discussion with South Lanarkshire Council.
