LORRAINE Kelly was shocked to learn just how much it costs to secure a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week.

In a clip shared from her Lorraine talk show, the Gorbals-born TV presenter can be seen discussing the complicated procedure for bagging a star with Scottish showbiz correspondent Ross King.

Not only does he reveal that stars are paying thousands from their own pockets to see their names to be added to the coveted stretch of sidewalk, but also that the price has risen by an eye-watering amount since he first started his career.

He said: "Just for people who don’t know, each year about 30 new stars [are added].

"Not only do you have to nominate someone and wait until the committee decides if you’re going to get one or not, you have to pay too.

"I started covering this in 2002 it was about $15,000 for a star.

"It went up to about $30,000, then up to $50,000 and now it’s $55,000."

A visibly shocked Kelly replies: “You have to pay for that?

“Goodness me, I didn’t realise that.

“That is fascinating.”

Clearly enjoying her reaction Ross cheekily quips: "Shall I nominate you?"

The revelation comes after Friends actress Courtney Cox was awarded her own star on the landmark street earlier this week.

She joins more than 2700 actors, musicians, directors and more who have their own names immortalised in brass stars along Hollywood Boulevard.
