A MUCH-LOVED Glasgow butcher has won a top award for his work.
George Gilmour, who runs David Cox Butchers in Bridgeton and King's Park, took home the prize for Best Butcher in South Lanarkshire at the Scottish Business Awards.
The event was held at Glasgow's Crowne Plaza hotel on Sunday evening to showcase the best in the industry.

It comes after George's East End store won best in Glasgow at a previous event, and just 16 months after opening the King's Park branch.
In a statement on social media, George said: "So we’ve only gone and won the award.
"Sixteen months opened in King's Park and we’ve gone and won the best in South Lanarkshire Award.
"I’m so proud of every single one of my team. Can’t believe we’ve gone and done it again.
"King's Park - Best Butchers in a South Lanarkshire. Bridgeton - Best Butchers in Glasgow.
"I’m not crying you are. Well done team."
Many of David Cox Butchers' loyal customers were quick to congratulate the team, with one person saying: "Told you no problem for you, best butchers ever."
Another added: "Absolutely fantastic, you so deserve it guys."
A third wrote: "Well done Team Cox, always a pleasure dealing with you guys."
George, whose father and grandfather both owned the businesses before him, is known and liked for his community spirit.
We previously reported that he began a fundraising plight for two defibrillators to be installed at his butcher shops to help save lives.
And in 2020, David Cox Butchers celebrated 50 years of the Bridgeton shop.
