A ‘PLUSH’ new steakhouse celebrating the best of Scottish produce will open in Glasgow city centre next month.

Taking over the former space of Canteen 58 in Merchant City, the Merchant Steakhouse is the latest venture from Bow Hospitality which already operates popular Hope Street spot Mezcal and Saki Maki in Giffnock.

Glasgow Times:

A menu devised by executive chef William Lee, who has previously worked Michelin-starred and Rosette venues, promises to ‘breathe new life into Scottish culture’ with cuts of meat sourced direct from the Highlands served alongside a selection of 'expertly crafted' cocktails and wines.

In keeping with the patriotic theme, the split-level venue will undergo a complete makeover with 'opulent' Harris Tweed soft furnishings and space for 80 diners.

Ryan Bowman, director at Bow Hospitality, said: “We’re excited to finally announce the launch of The Merchant Steakhouse.

“Our team have been working hard behind the scenes to curate a uniquely Scottish experience with a modern slant from the very best meat in the country to Harris Tweed decor throughout.

“Our vision for the restaurant is to become one of the country’s premium steakhouses and ensure every guest through the door has an unforgettable experience and top-quality steak.

“Stay tuned for sneak peeks of our menu.

“We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been cooking up at The Merchant Steakhouse.”

The opening of The Merchant Steakhouse is expected to bring 30 full-time and part-time jobs to the area.
