A TRAVEL company is bringing back flights from Glasgow to two popular holiday destinations.

TUI is adding a further 150,000 additional seats for customers across the UK for winter 2023 to meet the demand for winter sun breaks in North African destinations.

As part of this, the holiday firm will be reintroducing weekly flights to Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt and Sal in Cape Verde.

Glasgow Airport staff are delighted to see the return of the services as the locations were proving popular choices with holidaymakers before the Covid pandemic.

Christopher Tibbett, group head of airline relations for Glasgow Airport, said: “This is another fantastic announcement from TUI and it’s great to welcome back services to both Cape Verde and Sharm El-Sheikh to Glasgow.

“Cape Verde was previously a bit of a hidden gem for Scots travellers but became increasing popular as an alternative winter sun destination prior to the pandemic, so we’re really pleased to see this year-round sun destination return.

“The Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh has always been a great-value favourite with our passengers and this twice-weekly service will be very popular when it returns this winter.”

Andrew Flintham, managing director for TUI UK, added: “Our North Africa destinations have gone from strength to strength with UK customers and remain a very important part of our vast holiday programme.

"I am really pleased we can offer customers further choice with 150,000 more seats for winter 2023 to amazing destinations.

"We’re seeing strong demand for travel, with bookings suggesting that customers are keen to plan far in advance for their perfect holiday."

The seats are on sale now.
